AusTriathlon
AusTriathlon is the National Sports Organisation (NSO) responsible for the development and management of triathlon and multisport in Australia.
Formed in 1986 under its original name the Triathlon Federation of Australia, AusTriathlon is recognised as the official national body by the Australian Sports Commission, Australian Olympic Committee, Paralympics Australia, Commonwealth Games Australia and World Triathlon.
AusTriathlon also has eight affiliated State-level governing bodies (referred to as ‘State and Territory Triathlon Associations’) with a shared purpose and vision, to ensure our sport continues to thrive, by focusing on supporting participants, members and our affiliated triathlon and multisport clubs and squads across Australia.
From sanctioning over 600 events on the triathlon calendar to representing Australia on the world stage, AusTriathlon ensures there is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy triathlon and multisport – from juniors and novices right through to world champions.
About the role
AusTriathlon is on a mission to propel our success to new heights as we head into Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Over the past decade, our sport has evolved, becoming more sophisticated and competitive with new formats, events, and technological advancements shaping the landscape.
We are seeking an inspiring, transformational high-performance leader to guide a team of experts who will provide world-class support to our nations’ emerging and top triathletes on the road to 2032 and beyond. This in an unparalleled opportunity to make a lasting impact on the national and international stage.
Reporting to the CEO, the key duties will include:
- Provide strategic leadership, implementation and accountability of the 2032 High Performance AusTri Strategy.
- Recruit, lead, instruct and manage a team of exceptional experts to drive the implementation of this strategy.
- Lead the performance team, and wider AusTriathlon HP community to co-create HP values and behaviours that are conducive to delivering win well, high performance outcomes.
- Effective management and reporting of the performance budget of circa $4.5 million per annum and $18 million per quadrennial cycle.
- Contribute to the AusTriathlon Executive Leadership Team to ensure alignment and support from the wider business to High Performance, including policy development, communications, governance, finance, state pathway development, competition planning, board reporting and compliance.
- Foster exemplary partnerships with the National Institute Network and Games partners; Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), State Institute and Academies of Sport (SIS/SAS), Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), Paralympics Australia (PA), and State and Territory Triathlon Associations to support the delivery of the 2032 High Performance Strategy.
- Leading a purposeful highly effective world class team with a strong performance culture, athlete focus and successful delivery of benchmark competition results.
- Develop influential relationships with World Triathlon with reference to high performance matters.
About you
We are looking for someone with the following qualifications, skills, traits and experiences:
- Experience in successfully driving change and managing cross-functional high-performance teams in often complex and uncertain environments.
- A bachelor’s degree or above may be required for an international candidate due to visa requirements.
- A comprehensive understanding of the Australian HP Sport System and international sporting landscape.
- Advanced and proven contemporary leadership skills.
- Experience in the management and/or administration of HP sport programs at the national or international level.
- Demonstrated ability to positively influence, establish and develop further the existing working relationships with key stakeholders across the system.
- Experience in senior executive leadership, management, or high-level coaching positions.
- An authentic, driven individual with high levels of resilience and self-awareness.
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with Children/Young People.

Position location
Ideally the successful applicant will be based on the Gold Coast, Qld subject to visa requirements in the case of an international candidate. The role will require relatively frequent interstate and overseas travel.
