Sunshine Coast ‘Fire’ Full-Time Basketball Academy, based at Peregian Beach College on the Sunshine Coast, is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Basketball Coach to join our Sporting Club staff.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging basketball training sessions that align with the curriculum and standards of Sunshine Coast ‘Fire’ Basketball Academy.
• Instruct students in basketball skills, techniques, and strategies effectively.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students can develop their skills and passion for basketball.
• Create training programs and practical training sessions suitable for different skill levels, age groups, and competitive requirements.
• Provide constructive feedback to students to aid in their skill development and growth, which includes providing termly reports.
• Collaborate with other coaches and staff to organise games, tournaments, and events.
• Stay updated with current trends and developments in basketball coaching and sports education.
• Maintain a safe and organised training environment, adhering to safety guidelines and academy policies.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and management regarding training schedules, competitions, and progress.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
• Liaise with the Head of Performance and Sports Science to ensure athlete well-being and management is optimised.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Must be able to instruct groups up to 20 and be able to get the most out of each student
• Experience coaching for numerous of years
• Must be enthusiastic at each session
• Must be willing to continuously learn and expand knowledge on basketball skill development
• Good Communication Skills
• A good understanding of the game
• Attention to detail
• Good leadership skills
• Must have a WWC Blue card
