Total HRM has partnered with the Wangaratta Sports and Aquatic Centre (WSAC) in search of their next Aquatic and Health Program Coordinator.

This is an exciting role where you will work towards further developing our Premier Regional Sports & Events Precinct in Victoria

Working at the Wangaratta Sports and Aquatic Centre (WSAC).
Located in the rural city of Wangaratta, the WSAC is the place for the community to come and enjoy a workout or maybe just a coffee. The precinct has recently undergone a $16 million facelift, resulting in a new 50m outdoor pool, 25m heated indoor pool, 24/7 gym, indoor stadium and courts, and welcoming cafe! It’s the ideal workspace. WSAC is home to a large amount of group fitness classes and training programs and is committed to helping its members and visitors achieve their health and fitness goals. WSAC has 450,000 people visit their centre annually and pride themselves on each member and visitor having a positive and welcoming experience.

About the role: 

  • Oversee Learn to Swim, Aquatic Programs, Stadium Programs and Health & Wellness programs with a focus on the Customer Experience.
  • Redesign activity programs and initiatives to ensure the engagement of our clientele in wet (aquatic) and dry (stadium/group fitness) leisure services.
  • Negotiate and form partnerships with stakeholders to deliver health programs to the local community.
  • Grow participation in established WSAC programs and innovate new solutions to meet community needs and increase revenue.
  • Lead, supervise, inspire and develop your team.
  • Create and maintain relationships with peak bodies including Life Saving Vic, Aquatics and Recreation Vic, Les Mills, Fitness Bodies, Aust Swim and any other legal body WSAC complies to.
  • Build partnerships within the community to deliver appropriate community health and educational outcomes.

Knowledge and Skills we are looking for:

  • Detailed knowledge and working understanding of community leisure and health and aquatic education programming.
  • Knowledge and understanding of stadiums, gym operations, and aquatic programs.
  • Diploma in health, business or equivalent.
  • HLTAID003 Provide first aid
  • HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • SISSS00111 Pool Lifeguard (able to be obtained with support upon start)
  • Working with Children Check
  • Must maintain a satisfactory Police Check

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Prior Austswim Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety or equivalent qualification
  • Registration as a current exercise professional with a peak body (eg: Fitness Australia)
  • Business and/or Health promotion qualifications

Hours: This position is full time with flexible hours & start times.
